So, I had been using Joe's computer. He rarely uses it and it's usually the kids who are on it. Now THAT computer is having video card issues and won't start up. All of my important computer stuff was transferred from my computer to his.
Joe started off the new year by switching from third shift (graveyard) to day shift (9-5). There was a huge transition/reorganization with his unit and he was asked if he wanted to be a ?platoon sergeant? for one of the two new companies (that's my civilian understanding of it all). Great! This would be a much needed leadership experience for him to eventually advance to E-8. Catch? The guy that has 4 months more time in grade than Joe and who has said he doesn't want anymore leadership experience changed his mind and wants one of the spots... the "day shift" unit. That leaves Joe stuck with the second shift (swing). Now we're back to Joe being gone every evening.
We almost, almost, almost had a renter for the Alabama house. Joe was asking around at work if anyone was headed to Fort Rucker or knew of anyone there that might be looking for a house. He got word of a family headed there next month and we got in touch with them. Joe talked with them for a long while and they said they might be interested. I wasn't too hopeful until they called back just a few minutes later saying they were seriously considering it and felt really good about renting from us. So I sent them an application and some information. Joe sent them a quick text a couple days later asking if they had received the info. A reply came back saying they did but they were no longer interested.
Out of all of that it looks like Joe's mom is going to be moving back to Washington. Maybe this Spring. That's about all I know but it would be good for her to be living with someone and not by herself as well as being in an area she knows well. It also means that we'll lose the piddly amount of rent that we do get every month.
Before Joe's computer went on the fritz I started scanning all of my old photos (pre-digital camera) into the computer and adding them to my photo organizer. These are all the photos I have from birth through college that were originally in photo albums - those old, sticky paged, non-acid free photo albums. They have been sitting in a big photo storage box for years. This is one of those projects that I've wanted to do for the LONGEST time! I got several batches done before having computer issues. It's been fun to look through them. At least I can still scan the photos and store them on the external. I'll just have to load and tag them later when we get the video card fixed.
So, meanwhile, I've been doing yet another project. I started (and finished, but it's ongoing) it a couple years ago. I typed up all of my recipes and put them in plastic cover sheets and in binders. Now every time I find a new recipe on the internet or in a magazine it goes in the binder - picture and all. Unfortunately, I got WAY behind and I had a pile of old clippings that I never did anything with. I've been working on them slowly but it's getting done and it's a great feeling for my uber organized brain.
Zachary has an ear infection.
Praying and trusting but I could really use some real, live, vivid solutions.
Life. As I know it. As of today. I'm sure tomorrow will be just as thrilling.
